Wind speeds and sea conditions: sailboats dancing on the water—being out and about, experiencing the elements... This evocative painting displays a wide range of abstraction: on the one hand, the almost figurative white sails and their reflections; on the other, the water and sky are highly abstracted in terms of both color and texture.
Living by the Flensburg Fjord on the Baltic Sea, I love finding inspiration for subjects like this during my coastal walks. For this painting, I mixed the classic maritime colors of blue and white on my palette, complementing them with brownish and reddish accents. Its lively character is underscored by a varied, individual painting technique: the work features intricate details, a mix of strong contrasts and soft color transitions, and a combination of vertical accents and brushstrokes running in all directions - though horizontal strokes predominate.
